POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (PGDEMS)

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:

It is time one appreciates the absolute necessity of setting up and reorganizing the emergency medical services in our country. In line with the prevalent medico social scenario, the existing administrative and legal set up, a well structured, supervised training Programme, in confirmation to international norms and standards is the felt need of the hour. The Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medical Services (PGDEMS) is the first such programme in the country which will train medical professionals in the basics of emergency medical services in line with the Los Angeles Paramedical Institute, USA.

Timely provision of medical aid by such adequately trained and qualified personnel, even before the patient reaches the safety of the hospital can spell the difference between life and death.

Such trained personnel will also be of help in causalities and ICUs of hospitals, apart from being sent with the ambulance to the site where Emergency Medical Services are required.

  - All aspects of medicine pertaining to emergency & critical care.
  - Actual hands on training in various institutional hospitals of Pune

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: MBBS/ BHMS/ BAMS/ BUMS/ BDS/ BSc Nursing.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME: 6 Months Theory on Weekends. (Saturday 1.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m, Sunday 9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.) + 2 months Practicals + 4 months Internship

PROGRAMME FEES: Total Rs. 23,500/- (1^st Installment – Rs. 18,000/- at the time of admission and balance amount to be paid before programme commencement)

TOTAL SEATS: 135 Nos.

COMMENCEMENT OF THE PROGRAMME: January & July.
