Objectives of the
course:
It is time one appreciates
the absolute necessity of setting up and reorganizing
the emergency medical services in our country. In line
with the prevalent medico social scenario, the existing
administrative and legal set up, a well structured,
supervised training programme, in confirmation to
international norms and standards is the felt need of
the hour. The Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medical
Services (PGDEMS) is the first such course in the
country which will train medical professionals in the
basics of emergency medical services in line with the
Los Angeles Paramedical Institute, USA.
Timely provision of
medical aid by such adequately trained and
qualified personnel, even before the patient
reaches the safety of the hospital can spell the
difference between life and death.
Such trained personnel
will also be of help in causalities and ICUs of
hospitals, apart from being sent with the ambulance to
the site where Emergency Medical Services are required.
Eligibility Criteria : MBBS / BHMS / BAMS / BUMS
/ BDS / B.sc Nursing / Bsc Ems / BPTH
Duration of Course: One Year i.e. 8 Months Weekend
(Saturday 1.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. &
Sunday 9.30 a.m. to 3.00
p.m. + Theory / Practical + 4 hospital rotation )
Course Fees: Total Rs. 23,500/-
(Provisional fees Rs. 18,000/- + at the time of
admission and remaining is to be paid before the
commencement of the course) Prospectus fees separate.
Examination charges extra.
Commencement of the Course: Every six months (1st or
2nd Week of Jan. & July)
Admission Procedure: Prospectus & application forms
can be obtained from SIHS on payment of Rs. 1,000/- or
Rs. 1,100/- by post (payment to be made in cash or by DD
drawn in favor of Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences
(SIHS), Payable at Pune).
